European startups: what would a Digital Single Market mean to you?

As the European Commission prepares a long-term strategy for realising a 'Digital Single Market' in Europe - to be presented in May - we'd like to invite you to an online survey and share your views.
European startups: what would a Digital Single Market mean to you?

There is hardly any topic that the new European Commission VP Andrus Ansip, formerly the Prime Minister of Estonia, talks more about than the need for a Digital Single Market.

It's also something people appear to care and be aware about, judging from the questions Ansip received during a Twitter 'ask-a-thon' earlier today. And tomorrow, the Commission is hosting a '#Digital4EU' forum to gather even more views from across the industry about how Europe's digital future should be shaped, which tech.eu will attend.

Then it's crunch time in May, when 12 EU Commissioners representing various areas of European policy will be presenting a long-term strategy regarding the Digital Single Market, which will subsequently be examined by the leaders of the 28 EU member states.

All this to let you know that, as members of the European startup ecosystem - whether as an entrepreneur, investor, corporate or service provider - you can and should contribute to the conversation at this point and let the policymakers know that the very last thing they should do is make decisions in a vacuum.

To make sure those decisions are informed, knowledge is essential. Do startups in Europe really know much about what the Digital Single Market is, or what it would mean for their business (in terms of potential positive or negative impact). What can/should be done on a national level etc.?

In light of this, together with Nesta and the European Digital Forum, tech.eu has put together a quick online survey to collect your views on the current state of affairs and what you think a connected Digital Single Market in Europe should look like. Because standing on the sidelines when you have the chance to make a positive impact on the industry sucks, and it's even worse when you do it silently.

You can fill out the survey here - shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
